Circa is designed around real places and nearby access. That means location data matters, but it should stay limited, transparent, and under your control.

What Circa collects

Circa may collect your account details, profile information, location permissions, nearby circle activity, and the messages or posts you create inside the app.

This can include details such as your email address, display name, profile content, device-level notification preferences, basic diagnostics, and records needed to operate accounts, moderate content, and protect the service from abuse.

How location is used

Location is used to determine whether you are eligible to join or post inside a nearby circle. It can also help keep your map relevant to your current area. Notifications are optional and can be turned off in your device settings at any time.

Circa is built around nearby participation, so location data may be used to determine whether you are inside a circle, eligible to post, or able to view local activity. The app experience may be limited if location access is denied or restricted.

How information may be used

Information may be used to provide the service, determine nearby eligibility, prevent abuse, investigate reports, improve app performance, communicate about your account, and maintain the safety and reliability of Circa.

If Circa uses service providers for infrastructure, analytics, moderation support, or customer support, those providers should only receive the information reasonably necessary to perform those functions on Circa's behalf.

What Circa does not sell

Circa does not sell your personal information to data brokers. If the product later adds analytics or support tooling, those services should be used only to operate, secure, and improve the app.

Content, reports, and moderation

Messages, posts, reports, and moderation records may be reviewed when necessary to enforce rules, respond to safety issues, investigate abuse, or comply with legal obligations. Circa may preserve relevant records for those purposes even if some content is later removed from normal in-app visibility.

Your controls

  • Update or remove profile details inside the app.
  • Turn location and notifications on or off in iPhone settings.
  • Request account deletion or data help through the contact page.

Retention

Circa may keep operational records for safety, moderation, abuse prevention, or legal compliance for as long as reasonably necessary.

Retention periods can vary depending on the kind of data involved, whether a record is needed to support active features, and whether Circa has a legitimate need to preserve it for security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
